The Story of Oak Hill Ranch LLC

A Life-Long Dream Come True

Hi there! Thank you so much for stopping by. My name is Kate, and my husband, Trevor, and I are the owners of our farm, Oak Hill Ranch. Trevor and I met while we were two young kids in high school, and we've been together ever since - 12 years now! We bought our farm in July 2021 and were married the following summer. We both worked (and continue to work) excruciatingly hard and sacrificed quite a lot knowing that our goal was to buy a large piece of property out in the country. It was by no means easy, but so incredibly worth it. We absolutely adore this farm!

To most people's surprise, neither one of us were raised on working family farms, but from childhood we both were attracted to the homesteading and hobby farming way of life, had intense passions for the outdoors, and a fiery desire to raise any and all species of livestock (ok, maybe that last part was just me lol). My father bought me a small flock of silkie chickens when I was 8, taught me how to plant a large garden, and as they say, the rest was history. Shortly thereafter came the rabbits, more chickens and guinea fowl, horses, goats, honey bees, pigs, and coming soon... cattle.

While I've predominately been a veggie grower for most of my life, several years ago I decided to take on a winter project starting flowers in our basement. That summer I instantly fell in love with walking out our front door to see the fresh and new beautiful blooms that were popping open every day.

It was that same summer that I could feel deep in my bones that my life was about to drastically change for the best. There was something here in this crazy idea of mine that was worth exploring, and if you know me personally, well, you know I don't back down from a good ol' challenge. Operation make Kate a full-time flower farmer commenced shortly thereafter (lol 😂).

I'm sure you've noticed too, just like I have, that here’s been a major shift in recent years where people want to get back to the land, get their hands dirty, demand to know where their food is coming from and how it’s raised, and desire to learn long-lost skills that died with their great-grandparents. I knew I could be the one to bridge that gap for others. People have always told me that I’m an old soul stuck in the present, but maybe, just maybe, I could change that narrative, and instead be the one who helps others connect back to the ‘old ways’ that so many have lost. Whether you want to learn how to grow your own garden, or just come spend a few hours cutting flowers, or whether you want to learn how to successfully raise livestock or just hug them and give them cookies, I can help you with that :)

The demand from our local community has been nothing short of AMAZING, and therefore in 2024 we are massively scaling up to accommodate the rapid growth. We would love to share this wonderfully wild farm life of ours with you in 2024!

Sooooo..: that's a little bit about us. There's really never a dull moment here! We hope that we can help put a smile on your face, or help you to put a smile on someone else's with our offerings. We truly couldn't do it without your support! Hope to meet you at our farm soon!

Xoxo,

Kate
